About Last Night vs Kululu

Two QR-code photo sharing tools that solve the same problem in different ways. Here is what each does well, written by one of them, so read it with that in mind.

The short version

Kululu takes photos and video, allows unlimited guests on every plan including the free one, and keeps uploads for up to a year. We take photos only, cap guests by plan, and put the effort into how the night looks and feels: a disposable camera style, guest voting on the results, and print design and NFC tags included on the higher plans. If you want video and the largest possible guest list, Kululu is the better fit. If you want the event to feel like something rather than look like a folder, we are.

What each one is good at

Both are browser-based, both use a QR code, and neither asks guests to install anything. The differences are in what happens after that.

Where we are stronger

We optimise for the experience of the event itself.

  • It looks like somethingPhotos come back with a disposable camera treatment and a choice of five frame styles, so the gallery has a house style. Kululu gives you a clean, plain gallery, which some people prefer.
  • Guests vote, and there are awardsGuests rate each other’s photos and you can crown categories at the end of the night. It turns the gallery into an activity. Kululu does not offer anything equivalent.
  • Print design included on higher plansPremium and Unlimited include custom design work for your event: menus, place cards, table numbers and more, delivered as print-ready files. No other tool in this category does this.
  • NFC tags included on higher plansPremium comes with 25 programmed NFC tags and Unlimited with 50, shipped worldwide, so guests can tap as well as scan.
  • Original files on paid plansPaid plans include the unfiltered originals alongside the styled versions, so anything you want to print stays sharp at size.

Where Kululu is stronger

These are real advantages, and for some events they are the deciding ones.

  • Video, not just photosKululu accepts photos and video on every plan. We are photos only. If speeches, first dances or toasts matter to you as moving footage, that is a genuine reason to pick them.
  • Unlimited guests on every planIncluding the free one. Our free plan caps at 10 participants and paid plans at 50 and 150 before Unlimited. For a large event on a small budget, Kululu removes a constraint we still have.
  • Guests can add captions and text postsKululu lets guests attach decorated text to a photo, or post text on its own. We do not have this, and for a guest book style event it is a real gap.
  • Longer storage at the top endTheir Pro plan keeps uploads for a year. Our Unlimited plan keeps a gallery for 180 days. Either way, download the archive rather than relying on the link.
  • Approve uploads before they appearTheir Pro plan has moderation that holds every upload for approval. We let an organiser remove a photo after the fact and let guests report one, which is a weaker guarantee if something is going on a screen live.

Which one to pick

Choose Kululu if video matters, if you have a large guest list and a small budget, or if you want guests writing messages alongside their photos. Those are the three things they do that we do not, and no amount of styling makes up for a missing feature you actually need.

Choose us if you want the event to have a look: the disposable camera treatment, matching frames, guests voting on each other’s shots, and an awards moment at the end. And if you are on Premium or Unlimited, the print design and NFC tags are genuinely not available anywhere else in this category.

On price the two are close enough that it should not decide it. $39.99 against $39 at the entry level and $99.99 against $99 at the top, both one-time per event. Pick on the feature that matters to your night, not on the difference of a dollar.

Common questions

Is About Last Night a good Kululu alternative?
For most events, yes, and for some it is the wrong swap. We match Kululu on the basics: no app for guests, QR code access, a live display, bulk download and one-time pricing. We add guest voting, a disposable camera style with matching frames, and print design and NFC tags on the higher plans. We do not do video, and our guest limits are tiered rather than unlimited, so if either of those is essential then Kululu suits you better.
Does Kululu support video and does About Last Night?
Kululu accepts photos and video on every plan, including the free one. We are photos only. This is the clearest single difference between the two products and worth deciding on first, because everything else is a matter of taste and this one is not.
How do the guest limits compare?
Kululu allows unlimited guests on every plan, including free. Ours are tiered: 10 participants on the free plan, 50 on Classic, 150 on Premium and unlimited on the top plan. For a 200-person wedding on a small budget, that difference is real and favours Kululu.
How does pricing compare?
Very closely. Kululu is free to start, $39 for their Plus plan and $99 for Pro, one-time. Ours is free to start, $39.99 for Classic, $69.99 for Premium and $99.99 for Unlimited, also one-time per event with no subscription. Both were checked on 1 September 2026 for the US market.
Can I try both before deciding?
Yes, and you should. Both have a free plan with no card required, which is enough to create an event, scan the code and see what your guests would see. Run the same test on both with your own phone and pick the one that feels right, since fifteen minutes now settles it better than any comparison page, including this one.
